Star-Spangled Banner Society

Named in honor of the Museum’s most well-known and beloved artifact, the Star-Spangled Banner Society recognizes individuals who have made bequests, charitable gift annuities, or other planned gifts that will benefit the National Museum of American History.

Members are:

  • Invited to an annual event with the Museum’s Director.
  • Invited to special events at the Museum and across the country.
  • Given opportunities to meet Museum leadership, learn more about the behind-the-scenes work that’s often invisible to the general public, and hear firsthand about our future plans and upcoming exhibitions.

Membership in the Star-Spangled Banner Society complements your membership in the Smithsonian Legacy Society, a larger group for planned gift donors to all of the Smithsonian’s museums and research centers.
